Woodstock Reunion- Baker Dam and a Scary Pioneer Experience

After the Pioneer day festivities we spent the afternoon at Baker Dam kayaking and swimming. When we were done 4 of the kids (Kody, Ander, Grace and Taylor) took off the back way through the mountains to get home from the reservoir on the ranger. Minutes after leaving, a huge rainstorm hit. They were already wet and cold from the reservoir, and the wind and rain made it almost unbearable. Then the roads got so muddy they could not continue. They left the ranger and set off on foot hoping to find help. Their flip flops were useless as they sunk into the mud and so they were all barefoot. We couldn't even get to them in our four wheel drive truck. Garrett and Jaden were riding dirt bikes and came to their rescue and got them home. They were all freezing and muddy, but safe and so grateful they were not early pioneers!
