Give Me Liberty

Image
I feel like God and the founders of our nation are being pushed out of schools more and more, so I love that our school supports programs like this! Kody worked hard all year to memorize all the states and capitals, the president's and the order they served, learned the pledge of allegiance in sign language, memorized the Gettysburg address, memorized the star spangled banner, memorized the pledge of allegiance,  located all the continents on a map, memorized the Declaration of Independence, memorized the preamble to the constitution, and memorized all the symbols of the state of Utah and the United States of America.  All of the 5th graders are given the opportunity to do this and only about 25 from our school finished.  Kody was recognized at an assembly and given a trophy and was able to attend a pizza party at a local water park. I am so proud of you Kody!

Mother's Day Week

Image
It was a very long week!  Garrett is down and in a lot of pain from his surgery,  and all the kids got the stomach flu. I prayed that I would not get it, or our little family might have fallen apart.  We are all exhausted, but on the mend.  Poor Taylor got it the worst, and did not eat for almost 3 days.  And then what do you think she finally feels like eating? A pickle and cheese sandwich!:)  Gun, Lesly and Breckan came over and cleaned for an hour on Saturday as my mother's day present (cleaning is the best present ever)! Garrett and all of the kids wrote me beautiful letters, and my dad cooked dinner for me on Sunday and gave me a package with all the cards I had given to my mom throughout the years.  I cried reading them and thinking about how much I miss her, but was also so grateful to have had her for a mother! Katie had grandpa pick me up some flowers. I love roses!  We had fun writing things about our grandma too!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

We took dad out to Anasazi Steakhouse and to see Captain America 2 for his birthday.    Then I made meatloaf, one of his favorite dinner's on Sunday, and a brownie german chocolate cake.  We love having Grandpa so close!

ACL Surgery

Image
Garrett tore his ACL 22 years ago in a motorcycle accident, but it was never repaired correctly. He decided to go get it done right while he was still young and could enjoy it. This was a big decision because he can't walk on it for a month and can't play basketball for 6 months!  That is a big sacrifice for him. :)  Since he is so active it is hard to get him to sit down and take it easy, and when he doesn't it really swells and hurst the next day.  He began Physical therapy today and the doctor says it is healing well. We are so blessed that he is in a position to run his business from home with just a few hours in the office during the week. He has some great employes working for him!

Preschool Nursery Rhyme Program

Image
Taylor has really enjoyed Ms. Susie's class this year.  She told the kids to dress nicely for the program and Taylor was determined to wear her cheetah costume, because Ms. Susie had told her she was dressing up as Mother Goose.  It took a lot of tears and coaxing for her not to come as a cheetah! :)
