Experiences from this week: Joe- Listen to the Video here--->  Week 2 We met a guy named Joe. He was actually a referral, we went to find him and the house was for sale and no one lived there. We got in the car and were driving away, and sister Smith said "Do you think we should go knock on that door right there.  It was just a small little thought. We went and knocked on the door and guess who answered the door? JOE, the lovely Joe!  And the first think he said to us was "I converted to your church today."  We both looked at each other.  We knew he had gone to church that day, and he said he had been converted. He was really busy at the time so we got his number, and as we were going back to the car he said "and I think i'm going to get baptized too." We thought, okay sounds good.  It was a great experience to have because the first bit of this week had it's good and bad.  We were in a rut. You have those lows and highs in life. We really learn

Hey y'all!  1st week in the field of ACTUAL NORTH CAROLINA complete!!!  My companion is ginger, 6 foot, a ballerina, a brilliant missionary, and a hoot of a time! She has had some hard companions throughout the mission for various reasons. On our hour drive home the first day I was telling about some silly story and some of my ideas for the mission. After a few minutes she turned to me and said, "You are exactly what I need right now".  It is totally vica versa as well! In her words she needed to retrain her brain to be positive after her past companions and experiences. And I thrive when I feel needed. She is all about being exactly obedient to the rules of a missionary life and teaches by example.  What a Christlike woman!  The night before leaving the missionary training center I prayed that I would be able to know how to have a successful companionship and be obedient even if my companion wasn't obedient. I know from experience that following the Lord

Kimball Made it to North Carolina!

Kimball reported to the travel department Monday March 11th at 4:30 am.  She called us from the airport, as it was her P-day, but looking around at all the people in the airport didn't feel good about being on the phone when she was representing the Lord, so I didn't get to talk to her for a week and a half.  Her mission presidents President and Sister Holland posted a video of her group arriving at the airport in North Carolina--> Arriving in North Carolina .  They also emailed me to let me know she had arrived safely and sent some pictures of her, her district, her trainer Sister Smith, and her with them.

The MTC- Sister Bell

Kimball's arrived at the MTC February 20th. The first word I got was an email from Sister Wilcox who lives 2 doors down from us.  She ran into Kimball and had to take a picture to send to me:).   The announcement that missionaries could now call home every week, came out the week before Kimball left for the MTC.  We were actually up in her room packing, when a text came through on my phone with the news.  Tears just began to stream down Kimball's cheeks.  Her first call from the MTC was wonderful.  It was so reassuring to see her well and happy. I sent Kimball 3 packages in the MTC, one just treats and some pictures from home, one with something she had forgotten, and one with some healthy snack for the plane ride and some microwave popcorn for her to share with her district.  The shaver is an inside joke:). District 33B Kimball's first Companion was Sister Bell.  Kimball and her were made Sister Training Leaders 3 days in, and became moms to the new

Dropping Kimball off at the MTC

There was a storm on the way, that was threatening to close the freeway between Fillmore and St. George, so Garrett dropped Kimball and I off at Katie's house and he headed back.  Katie went with us to eat at Spicy Thai and then took me to drop Kimball off.  We drove in to the underground parking, parked she jumped out, we grabbed her bags, hugged and she was gone.  I really was okay until that hug, when I realized I wouldn't be seeing her for a year and half, and couldn't let go.  She let me hug her a little longer and the tears came for both of us.

Kimball's Setting apart as a missionary

Image
We met with President Almquist at 9:00 pm the night before Kimball reported to the MTC.  HE talked with Kimball and the other sister there to be set apart about missions, and then let the parents and grandparents bear their testimonies as well.  Then President Almquist set Kimball apart and gave her a beautiful blessing.  Kimball wrote down what she could remember in her journal, but I remember her being told that her family on both sides of the veil, even those not yet born to this Earth would be there to help her.   we weren't done until almost 11:30 at night, and Hinckley fell asleep halfway through.:)
