Halloween

Image
I got to help in Hinckley's class Halloween party again this year (kind of a must when serving lots of food to a diabetic).  We made monster doughnuts, and mummy drink boxes.  it was fun watching them parade around the school in their costumes.  They trick or treated with their friends the Joy's and then came home and did the traditional candy swap and watched ET. I can't stand that show, so I stayed downstairs and watched a baking show. :) Butterfly, Newsie and Baby

The brain of a mom

I saw this and it explained me exactly today. With my missionary coming home earlier than expected, planning a wedding and Christmas, taking care of a diabetic, planning a work party and the ward Christmas party I was very overwhelmed.  I tied to explain to Garrett what I was feeling, and showing him this helped him envision it a little better.   He laughed and reminded me of the scene from Harry Potter...  “Well, obviously, she's feeling very sad, because of Cedric dying. Then I expect she's feeling confused because she liked Cedric and now she likes Harry, and she can't work out who she likes best. Then she'll be feeling guilty, thinking it's an insult to Cedric's memory to be kissing Harry at all, and she'll be worrying about what everyone else might say about her if she starts going out with Harry. And she probably can't work out what her feelings towards Harry are anyway, because he was the one who was with Cedric when Cedric died, so that's

We rushed back from Salt Lake after wedding dress Shopping and Dropped Kimball and Ben off at the Brigham Young home just in time to meet their photographer and videographer Nicole and Noah Burt.  They used to be in our ward and love Kimball, so they gave us a great package deal for pictures and video of engagements, bridals, temple pics and reception. $1600, a great deal. I couldn't be happier, neither can they!

Wedding Dress Shopping

Kimball and I had been looking at wedding dresses for a few years and knew she wanted a classic, simple dress similar to Studio Levana dresses.  We found "Alta Moda Boutique" in Salt Lake that sold their dresses, and took Ben, his mom Debbra, sister Sarah, Grace, Kimball and I on a trip up North.  I paid to have the studio to ourselves for 2 hours. Katie and Grandma Woodstock met us there, and Ben worked on stuff in the car while they served treats and drinks, and treated Kimball like a princess.  She new within the first 30 mins which dress she wanted, but I made her try on about 10 before I would let her stick with it.  She loves it! It needs some modifications to make it temple worthy as she is hoping she will be able to wear it to her sealing.  The lace work is gorgeous and the skirt material flowy, elegant and soft. It will look amazing when she dances.  It will be a custom Leanne Marshall gown made in New York and altered and tailored to Kimball.  She is a famous desi

The Scene of the Crime

Jaden was stopped right here by this pothole (clearly behind the stop sign) when an elderly woman turned left onto our street and the back right corner of her car hit the front left corner of Jaden's ( you can see the debris on the ground).  She swore he drove into her, and Jaden swears he was just sitting there waiting for her to turn, and she turned too sharply.  Since we just live down the street they both pulled up to the house and she demanded our insurance card.  Teenage boys never win with the insurance in a battle of he said she said, so we decided to just pay for the damage to her back bumper instead of running it through the insurance and raising our deductible.   It ended up costing $2300, maybe we should have fought it.  Too late now!

Universal Studios Family Vacation

Image
Day 1- Since we had Kimball home we did a quick 2 day trip to California during Fall Break. The first day we flew to Los Angeles,  took a shuttle to our hotel,  visited the Universal City Walk and saw the Premier of the 2nd Maleficent movie. We then grabbed some ice cream before heading to bed.  I love my family! DAY 2-  We were to Universal bright and early, and in the park first thing to get to Harry Potter land.  The Harry Potter ride was awesome! We rode every ride, enjoyed lots of food and pictures and then headed back to the hotel for the evening.  Dad and Kimball took the girls swimming while the boys and I went back to the City Walk and did some shopping. After the little girls and dad were in bed, the older kids and I went down to the lounge and had some virgin shirley temples on the house (compliments of our waitress), and shared some appetizers.  Funny story...Kody saw the waitress go behind the
