Wedding Dress Shopping
Kimball and I had been looking at wedding dresses for a few years and knew she wanted a classic, simple dress similar to Studio Levana dresses. We found "Alta Moda Boutique" in Salt Lake that sold their dresses, and took Ben, his mom Debbra, sister Sarah, Grace, Kimball and I on a trip up North. I paid to have the studio to ourselves for 2 hours. Katie and Grandma Woodstock met us there, and Ben worked on stuff in the car while they served treats and drinks, and treated Kimball like a princess. She new within the first 30 mins which dress she wanted, but I made her try on about 10 before I would let her stick with it. She loves it! It needs some modifications to make it temple worthy as she is hoping she will be able to wear it to her sealing. The lace work is gorgeous and the skirt material flowy, elegant and soft. It will look amazing when she dances. It will be a custom Leanne Marshall gown made in New York and altered and tailored to Kimball. She is a famous designer known for winning 1st place on the show "Project Runway" so we paid about $5000 for it. Kimball freaked, but she absolutely loved it, and we had to get something chosen and on the way or it was not going to be there in time for her wedding. Money well spent for memories of covenants made that will last for eternity! Can't wait to see it with all the alterations in about 6 weeks. Can't believe I am a mother of the bride. So fun!
While we were up North we attended Preston Yates (Garrett's Cousin) production of "The Phantom" in which he played the Phantom. He was amazing!
The Dress arrived 2 weeks before the wedding! |
