The final gift of Christmas

Image
On Christmas eve each member of our family writes something that they are going to get better at this year to give as a gift to Jesus. We then open the gift the following Christmas and see how we did. Kimball wouldn't tell me what her's was this year. I woke up the day after Christmas and found this note on the counter of a beautifully cleaned kitchen. She had stayed up cleaning (the final gift of Christmas). My scanner isn't working, so you can't really read this note, but this is what is said. Dear Mom and Dad, I wanted to tell you how much I love you, and show you. And I wanted to tell you what I wrote on my Jesus card. I put I will try to respect my parents, listen to my parents, and try to show my parents how much I love them. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Kimball It doesn't get more rewarding than that as a parent, and she has really lived up to her promise. She has been so helpful and respectful. My favorite Christmas gift this year! We love you Kimball!!!

Family Christmas Party The kids look forward to the family Christmas party at grandpa and grandma Wastlund's house every year. We had a delicious Christmas dinner, read the Christmas story, and then welcomed a surprise visitor. Grandma outdid herself as normal! A very fun evening! Reading the Christmas story Kimball Jaden Kody Grace wouldn't have anything to do with Santa for the second year in a row, maybe next year...third times a charm! Sledding Our neighborhood headed up to Cedar Canyon on Christmas eve day to find some snow. the kids lasted about an hour and were ready to head home. You can tell we don't live in the cold! :) Look at that big mountain! Kimball had a blast with her friends. Kody handled the snow the best. Jaden trekking up the hill. And then coming down...daddy went down with Jaden from the very top, and they wiped out on the way down. Jaden got snow down his coat and boots and he was done after that! Christmas Eve Since we had a big Christmas dinner

Merry Christmas!

"Leaving" Service Grandpa Wastlund invited us to help rake leaves at a widows home who had just recently passed away. It was a fun way to serve. Actually I doubt it even felt like service to the kids. Kimball missed out because she had a Christmas party that morning. Maybe next year! I hope we can make this a yearly tradition. The boys job was to keep pushing the leaves to the back of the trailer, so daddy and grandpa could keep adding more. I think we spilled more milk than we drank! Riding in the back of the trailer. Gingerbread House Jaden had a very disappointing gingerbread making day. He had a dental appointment at 11:00 and we thought he would be back to the school no problem by 2:00 to make gingerbread houses with his 2nd grade class. He had been looking forward to it for a week. Mom was even going to be there helping. He ended up having to get a molar pulled and was not feeling well enough to go back to school. Mom picked up his house supplies for him and we

To begin I just have to say...I am married to superman! :) We have had a busy week, and my poor husband never gets a break when I am nesting. He has already put in shelves under the stairs for me, built two new dressers for the boys room, a dresser for Taylor's room(the new baby), helped me hang all the decorations in the babies room, put up the tree, and is now going to begin working on new bed frames for Kimball, Jaden and Kody. Here are some pictures from our week! The finished product! For family night this week we decorated the house for Christmas. Always ending with hot chocolate! We also took the advice of our general authorities from stake conference, and began a study of the conference talks. The kids each got their own copy of the Ensign (well Grace got a Friend) and a highlighter, and we are studying a new talk every Monday night. True to the promise of our leaders, my young kids were up to the challenge. It was wonderful! Taylor's room... now all we need is Tay
