Saint George Rodeo

Image
A few of the kids and I made a last minute trip to the Rodeo on kids night. Our friends the Coombs saved us seats and we had a fun night.  We left a little early to beat the crowd, and wished we had stayed when we heard that the "motorcross" came and did a crazy performance.

Tuacahn

I loved Mary Poppins! I have never seen the broadway version, but I loved the story line more than the disney movie version. We got rained on the entire first half, but the audience and cast stuck it out. The outside amphitheater is beautiful and no one puts on a show like Tuacahn.  Our own little oasis in the dessert.

The hazards of walking

Image
Hinckley is 11 months now, and walking everywhere.  With her new confidence walking, she has now decided she can climb everything.  I can't leave the step stool out or she is up on the counter as soon as you turn your back, and this morning she got this little gem. I had the gate up on the stairs, but she has began standing up and holding onto the top. She must have turned and fallen head first.  Who knew two steps could cause so much damage!  I watched her for signs of a concussion, but she is just fine.  Mom is just frazzled and a little more cautious!

The Little Things

Image
I have really taken notice lately of the sweet little elderly people that we are surrounded by.  Every day without fail as I drive Jaden to school we pass a little old man walking the same route and picking up garbage.  He turns and waves as we pass, and Jaden and I have grown to love this man we have never even met. Our new neighbor, 73 year old Gyneth, brought over these beautiful quilts she had made for Grace and Taylor, and is in the process of making a blanket for the other kids as well.  We constantly have elderly neighbors bringing treats and goodies from their gardens and feel so loved!

No shoes, but a full heart!

This Sunday was fast and testimony meeting.  A young man in our ward got up for his first time ever to bear his testimony, and I was very moved by his simple, heartfelt words.  My 11 year old Jaden must have been too, because I looked over and he was walking up to the stand... with no shoes on!  He had slipped them off earlier in the meeting. I was so embarrassed and tried to get his attention to come back and put on his shoes, to no avail.  I sat there wondering what people would say, and noticed the bishopric look at his feet and then look at each other as he took the podium. As he began to speak the spirit taught me a lesson, and I felt so ashamed!  My son had been moved by the spirit to jump out of his seat and bear his testimony with no thought of anything else. Who cares what anyone else thought! His Father in Heaven was very proud and so was I!  As he finished and sat down, I put my arm around him and gave him a hug...and didn't say one word about the shoes!

Labor Day

Image
We decided to get out of the heat and spend Labor Day in Pine Valley.  I think Grace wins the the craziest face award  Tin foil dinners and corn on the Cob  Kody was very tired on the way home.

Ward Swim Party

Image
Our ward rented out Sand Hollow Aquatic Center for our ward party.  The perfect evening for all the kids! Kimball was such a sweetie and helped out with her little sisters instead of going off with her friends.  I am a very lucky mom! So glad to be a part of such a wonderful ward family!

Disney  First Grandma surprised them with a day at Disneyland  The "Pink Patrol" San Diego Dinner by the harbor And what Grandma trip would be complete without a trip to the temple to do baptisms for the dead.
