Basketball

Image
KODY  This was the only picture I got of Kody, only because another mom emailed it to me. Their coach never let anyone know about team photos so we missed out.  Kody has an awesome shot, but his heart is not really into basketball like Jaden's is.  He loved hanging out with his friends and the treats at the end of the game though, so he stuck with it! We can't wait to find out what Kody will choose to excel at. JADEN  Jaden on the other hand is a born basketball player, scoring over 75% of the points each game. He has told us that basketball is the sport he is going to stick with. Daddy was actually able to help coach, which Jaden loved. The only reason I got pictures of Jaden, is because Krista was visiting, attended one of the games and took some pictures for me. I never seem to remember my camera as I am rushing everyone out the door to the games.  I love that look on his face as he is waiting to see if his shot will go in.

Jaden's 9th Birthday!

Image
Jaden invited the family to Pirate Island Pizza for his family birthday this year, and then had his Cousin Logan over to spend the night.  He came away with a stash of gifts and candy and had a great time with his cousins.   I can't believe Jaden is already a Wolf scout and beginning Bears this month.  He is getting such a fun personality, and is such a cuddle bug.  I have to squeeze him every chance I get, because I know he will grow out of that stage sooner than later.  Jaden is very competitive and Loves to work out and lift weights with daddy and play basketball.  He is very tender hearted and helpful, but can also play the role of the class clown. Jaden has chosen chicken patty sandwiches and chips and dip for his Birthday dinner on Tuesday and is excited for mom to come decorate his desk at school and bring doughnuts to his class. Happy Birthday Jaden! We love you!

Acting

Image
Our family has been having fun doing skits lately.  We found some cute plays on line and it is so fun giving everyone a part and listening to the kids read their lines. I think Jaden will be a great actor someday.  His teacher at school told me this last parent teacher conference that the entire class enjoys watching Jaden doing their class skits, and that he should begin acting.  I know now exactly what he meant.  He is so animated that all eyes are are constantly on him.

The Bad Mother Of The Year Award

The Only Reason I am even posting this is for memories sake, so please go easy on me. Last week I had put Taylor down for a nap and laid down on the bed with Grace to try to get her to go to sleep.  Well, I dozed off  for 10 minutes, woke up, and Grace was gone.  I wasn't worried because she had never left the house before, and began the search.  After repeatedly getting no answer to my calls, I checked the backyard and started searching in case she had fallen asleep somewhere in the house.  Ten minutes later I still could not find her and began to freak out.  I called the neighbor whose kids were outside playing, thinking maybe she had heard them and gone to play (although they live across the busy road). Nope, but she said that she would walk the neighborhood.  I finally called Garrett, and told him that Grace was missing.  He came right home, along with Grandma and Grandpa Wastlund.  Still No Grace. I am hysterical now and after walking to the bus stop and not finding her am r

All caught up

My back is feeling better, and all of the sickness has finally made it through everyone and left the house! I am feeling like myself again and am getting all caught up on everything (thus the many posts). I am feeling very grateful for my health and am greatly anticipating spring!

Daniel turns 18!

Image
As most of you know my brother Daniel has been living with us and attending Dixie College.  We helped him celebrate the big 18 today.  The baby of the family is finally grown up!  Mom made Daniel's favorite macaroni salad, and Garrett grilled steaks, chicken and hot dogs. He opted for pie instead of cake (what is it with our family?). He loves Reeses. And look how much he is loved. Cards in the mail, new laptop bag, hat, treats, knife and oil vile (great #18 thinking Katie)! Mom and dad even gave him $100 bucks! Happy Birthday!

It was Kody's turn to choose the activity for family night, so the kids all made a sock puppet. Camera shy Kimball  Jaden's alien  Crew cut Kody Grace just colored every square inch We gave the kids different scenarios and they acted them out. A fun night!

Blue and Gold

Jaden received his Wolf at the Blue and Gold banquet last month. He has awesome leaders, and has really enjoyed being a scout. Just a few more months and Kody will be joining also.  I hope mom can keep up!

In a Rut!

So I hurt my back last week after 2- 6 mile runs. Well, who knows what caused it, but I have not been able to bend over let alone run for almost a week and a half.  I have to admit I am going crazy.  Who ever would have thought that I would become addicted to running! I feel so useless and lazy because everything is painful.  Of course I am gaining weight, and am feeling depressed because I don't seem to be getting better.  I went to the chiropractor Monday, and had high hopes, but am feeling just as bad today.  I go in again Monday and may need to have a back X-ray and check for herniated discs.  I have already registered for the Utah Valley Half Marathon in June, and was hoping to run the St. George Marathon in October. I am getting behind on my training schedule, but the worst part of all is not being able to pick up my baby and play with my kids!
