Backyard remodel

Image
When we first moved into the house we could not put any cushions or furniture outside because there was a stray cat that would get hair and potty all over them.  The stray finally died, and since we are stuck home we thought we would make an outside sanctuary. Garrett helped me put together some furniture and a new gas fire pit, and we hung some outside lights.  We roasted hot dogs on the back patio that first night, and we are loving a relaxing place to enjoy the outdoors.

Covid-19 Quarantine School at home

Image
The fist week of School from home is over. School is closed until May 1st or until the end of the quarantine. It was rough getting everyone logged into all the right classes at the right times, and getting my teenage boys out of bed.  I think we have got it down to a schedule now, and next week will be much easier. It has been two weeks now stuck in our house.  Grace said today "I am so grateful I have my sisters to play with."  I have to admit I am feeling a little stir crazy, I would love a break from the kids, but there is no where to go.  Everything is closed other than grocery stores and take out, Garrett has been gone a lot.  We are even supposed to avoid the parks.

Service during Covid-19

Image
I received a call from grandma Amy who told me about a text she received from a friend of hers that works at Red Cliffs Rehab. The residents are getting depressed because they are confined to their rooms 24/7 with no visitors. This is to avoid exposure to Covid 19 germs. They don’t even interact with other residents. They are so lonely! The kids are not allowed in, but cards are.  She gave me the idea to invite the youth of our ward to help by making c ards or festive art/wall decor would help them feel less forgotten. Being of service might also make our youth feel proactive during this difficult time. So many have donated!  I will deliver any cards/posters/art that is left on my doorstep to various nursing homes throughout the area.

Wisdom Teeth

Image
Jaden was not happy to get his wisdom teeth out the week of Spring break and his birthday.  With the Covid-19 scare we decided to get it done anyway before all Dr's offices were closed.  As it was we had to wait in our cars until the Dr. called us in, to comply with the social distancing being recommended.  The procedure went well, and Jaden was hilarious during recovery,  the cute doctors assistants said that every time they asked Jaden how he was doing he would respond in a Bronx accent just like Joey from friends with "How you doin?"  They thought it was hilarious.

Spring

Image
With all the sickness and craziness in the world right now, it was so nice to have such a warm and sunny day.  Grace and Hannah helped me plant some spring flowers.  Here is hoping the warm weather will kill this virus.

My Best Friends

Image
My kids will forever be my best friends!  I love spending time with them. I hope they never get sick of being with me.

A Sacred Experience

Today we had church in our home.  From the moment I woke up I felt a special spirit.  The Sacred ordinance of the Sacrament permeated our home. As my sons prepared, blessed and passed the sacrament the room was silent. I could not stop the tears from flowing.  What a blessing to have the priesthood upon this Earth and worthy men in my home who hold it. I hope it is a feeling my children will always remember.  This is the Lord's church and even in our home rather than a church building his blessings are available to us all.

Senior Year

Jaden has a hard time getting to classes. He is as exhausted of me telling him to get to school as I am of telling him. I am just praying he will graduate!  I have spent a lot of time helping him get caught up in his foods class.  Although I get mad and tell him he should have just been in class and we wouldn't have to spend all this time outside of class, I secretly love it.  He doesn't spend as much time at home as he used to, and I like this time together with him.  I love Jaden so much, just not as a student.   If he graduates it will be a big celebration. You can do it Jaden!
