Spoiled

So our hot water heater has been on the fritz for a week now, and boy am I missing it!  I run outside in the early mornings and am so cold when I get home.  Yesterday I tried to will myslef into the water but just feeling the freezing cold on my feet made me change my mind.  I ended up boiling some water and washing my face and hair in the sink, and then just doing a quick sponge bath.  Kimball also got her hair washed in the sink last night, the boys could care less about a shower, and the two little girls are loving being bathed in the sink. I am beginning to realize how very spoiled I am. I got home from my 6 mile run this morning, and decided I am heading over to the in-laws for a shower! The repair guy is coming today....here's to hoping he doesn't have to order another part!

Taylor Turns 1!

Taylor turns one today! We celebrated her birthday last Thursday with the Wastlund clan.  We ate Lasagna (one of Taylor's favorites) and of course banana cake. She is walking like a pro, and begining to run and giggle when you chase her down the hall.  We love our Taylor Rose!

F.H.E- minute to win it

Kimball organized the activities for F.H.E this week and now the kids think we have to do this every night.  We have decided we are going to make Saturday night Game night our new tradition.

Goals

Every year when tithing settlement comes around we wish the kids made money so we could teach them more about tithing and saving, and help establish some deep rooted habits. Well, this year we are trying something new.  They will receive $10 a month.  $1 will go to tithing, $1 to short term savings,$1 to long term savings, and the rest to spending.  They have also made some goals to save for weddings and missions, and are now responsible to pay for themselves when we go to movies, out for treats or other family activities. Mom made some binders and goal sheets to help them be responsible for their money.  They are very excited and we hope this will help them learn financial responsibility especially as they get older and begin making more money.

A new year!

We woke up to snow the 3rd day of January. This was the view out of the front door. This may not seem a very big deal to some of you, but in the 15 years that I have lived in Saint George it has only snowed 4 times. What a perfect day to end Christmas vacation! I spent a half an hour bundling the kids up and then sent them out to play.  They played for an hour and no one was frozen when they came in for cocoa.  I did however have to stop them from sledding down the driveway into oncoming traffic at one point.  Happy New Year!

Christmas (Warning... Picture Overload!)

The nativity Every person who is not married has to sit on Santa's lap!  Wrestling with the Uncles Katie's traditional Christmas story. All the adults had a contest to see who could pass the army PT test.  Everyone was in shock when grandpa began to whip them out! And then my stupid brothers talked Garrett into joining them in a boxing match.  I couldn't watch!  Jenson Santa Party!  Look at the look on Gracie's face when she saw Santa.  There was no way Grace was going to sit on Santa's lap.  Grandma Wastlund gave the oldest granddaughters a porcelain doll wearing their blessing dresses. Grandpa made them a special case to preserve them for their future daughters.
