Bar 10 Ranch/Grand Canyon Adventure
Daniel has been working all summer at the Bar 10 Ranch. The Heaton Family are nice enough to host a family ranch day for the families of all their employees free of charge. Daniel was nice enough to invite us, and we had a great time!
The car ride up was slow and bumpy and could not be done without 4 wheel drive.
It was all worth is once we arrived though, what a beautiful set up over looking the grand canyon. It is amazing they even got the place built considering the road to bring supplies in. We had so much fun horse back riding, skeet shooting, learning of the history, playing horseshoes, eating dutch oven dinner and having a real cowboy experience.
Grace got on the horse and wanted right back off, but Taylor loved it and I couldn't keep her off.
Taylor was even brave enough to hold a snake!
Daniel is a great storyteller and scared us all to death when he sprung a real trap he had hidden under the ground as he was telling a story about trapping coyotes. He is known as the plant and animal expert on the ranch.
In the evening they hold a cowboy show. Singing, dancing, storytelling and rope tricks
Daniel sang "A Boy Named Sue" Sooo funny! He did great!
Taylor loved it when the cowboys would try to laso her.:) They were so gentle and she just laughed and laughed
The weather was perfect, and the scenery was beautiful!
The dutch oven meals were fabulous!
Learning how to laso.
The boys all did great skeet shooting, and even hit a target every round.
We stayed in the lodge, and the boys made some new friends playing pool.
An on site stitch up occurred after a woman flipped one of the ATV's and cut her arm open.
The boys even found an old basketball hoop.
One of the highlights of the trip was a helicopter ride to the grand canyon
We hung out at the Colorado River while we waited for the helicopter to fly all the river rafters back to the ranch.
Kimball and Hinckley stayed home because Kimball had play, but Hinckley had a great time with her cousins. "Look mom, Hannah painted my nails!"
