Christmas on Temple Square

We took the 4 kids to Salt Lake for the weekend. Katie was amazing and stayed home with the 2 little girls, so we could spend some time with our big kids.

This was the view from our hotel, it just made everyone excited to see the temple the next day.

We splurged and stayed at the Marriott since were were only there 2 nights.  The kids loved the concierge lounge, where there is always snacks and drinks.
The temple was beautiful, and the weather was perfect (just cool enough for a jacket).  Very un Northern Utah like but great for us Saint Georgians!

We spent almost 2 hours in the Joseph Smith Memorial building in the Family Search Center.  Kimball, Dad and I did some indexing and family history, and there were lots of other activities to keep the younger ones busy.

We then tried our hand at ice skating.  Jaden and daddy were naturals, I spent most of my time getting everyones skates on correctly, and Kimball, Grace and Kody stuck with it even though they fell more than once.  We were all getting the hang of it when Jaden slipped, slammed his face into the ground and began sliding toward a group of skaters. One skater reflectivity (I hope) kicked out his skate to stop Jaden from hitting them and making them fall, hitting Jaden right in the nose with his blade.  They acted very upset with Jaden until they realized he was bleeding everywhere.  We got him off the ice, and he was very dizzy and bleeding from both the nose and mouth.  We think he may have broken his nose, but it is hard to tell, and there is nothing really to be done for a broken nose. The bleeding stopped and he started acting normal again, although in a lot of pain, so we took him back to the hotel gave him some tylenol and let him rest and ice his nose.  The swelling went down a lot, but he is going to have two shiners.  He was so brave and handled the entire ordeal very well.  He even joked and laughed to try to make everyone else feel better.

 Poor Jaden
We spent some time at the pool of course.

We tried to get reservations at "The Roof," but they were booked until January. We had to settle for "The Garden" restaurant, but the view was just as lovely!

 Yummy!

Katie scored us 4 Tickets to see the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert, so Garrett and Kody headed back to the room to watch the Lakers game and the rest of us enjoyed temple square before the concert.

The concert was AMAZING!  The muppets were so much fun, and the music was beautiful.  So blessed to have been there and share it with my kids.

Big bird taking over as conductor.
