Update 2 for Dorian

Dear Missionaries,

We had a wonderful Sisters Conference today and now all are safely sheltering in place or in safe houses for the evening.  Two items I wish to stress as we hunker down for the next 24 hours.

  1. When it comes to hurricanes, the first thing we think about and secure is your personal safety.  The second thing we think about are the church’s valuable assets, namely mission cars.  Remember the following instruction:
·     Park the mission car on high ground away from trees.
Now, if you have not done this and your car is far away and/or things are very stormy, just leave it as is.  But, if it is close and not too stormy to go out, please make sure it is parked somewhere safe for the night.
  1. The other development of this afternoon is a tornado watch for some of the eastern parts of the state.  The chances of a tornado affecting you are slim, but just in case, from our Emergency Plan, please remember:
·     Know where to go:
o       In a building/apartment, shelter in a basement, inner hallway, small inner room without windows (like a bathroom or closet) or, as a last resort, get under something sturdy. (For added protection you can also cover yourself with a mattress.)
o       If outside, lie on the ground in a ditch or depression.
  1. Finally, I worked with Elder White today to see if we could advance your second installment of monthly financial support.  Apparently that is not possible.  So, if any of you purchased extra groceries and are facing a serious financial challenge before your next installment comes, please let Elder White know by text (801-995-9019).  We may not be able to address that today, but can do something before the next installment comes.

Stay calm, safe, and as productive as possible. Heaven is with us.

Best,

President Matthew S.  Holland
